The San Silvestre Green Corporation filed a criminal complaint against Liliana Forero Cala, manager of the cleaning company Rediba S.A. for environmental crimes. The manager of Rediba S.A. was charged on the grounds of violation of legal procedures and aggravated damage to natural resources, serial damage to natural resources with environmental contamination, concealment and destruction of evidence, and invasion of an area of special ecological interest.
Manager of Rediba S.A. will have to face justice.
Today, this criminal proceeding is in its preparatory hearing phase and, through its legal team, the corporation represents the victims.
The San Silvestre Green Corporation, through a writ of amparo, achieved the protection of the Humedal San Silvestre DRMI, achieved the protection of the water to be consumed by inhabitants of the Patio Bonito subdistrict, and achieved legal conditions for closing a landfill for the protection of the San Silvestre wetland, by means of Ruling T-227 of 2017.
The final ruling was: “To order the Autonomous Corporation of Santander: Within six months following the notice of this ruling, to perform an assessment of environmental and social impacts caused by the construction and operation of the Patio Bonito landfill and, based on this assessment, to review the terms under which the environmental license was granted, determining whether it is necessary to totally or partially amend or revoke said administrative act.” Click here to download this ruling.
By means of Resolution DGL No. 323 of April 7, 2017, the Director of the Autonomous Corporation of Santander imposed a fine on the Rediba S.A. E.S.P. cleaning company for approximately COP 2,411 million. View the record of CAS’ fine against Rediba S.A. here.
